Foo Fighters Goes Garage Band

Living in New York City, I come across a lot of famous people. Some of which I'm interested in and others I could care less about, but throughout all these encounters I never make an attempt at approaching any of them. Why? Because a) I'm shy and b) I rarely ever see celebs that look happy to be approached by eager smiling fans. It just doesn't happen. Yet, if I could have it my way, there would be a lot less chatting, signing autographs, and taking blurry cellphone photos, and a whole lot of rocking out.

That's at least what happened for one lucky fan who had the Foo Fighters make his garage center stage. Dave Grohl+Garage=Absolute Madness/A Fire

Some fans have all the luck.

The Women of Rock 101

I love rock music and I love hearing the stories of the women who know its history best. The scandal, the drugs, the music! I could nerd all day over their stories of backstage adventures, run ins with the law, groupie outtings and Mick Jagger's weird face. Check out these super groovy books from and about the women who lived, loved and made rock and roll history.

1. Linda McCartney: A Portrait
by Danny Fields
Former journalist and music manager Danny Fields pens this
biography on the late Linda McCartney and her life growing up in 60’s London.
The book follows the friendship between Fields and McCartney as she becomes a
noted photographer and later marries super-Beatle, Paul McCartney.

2. Marianne Faithfull: Memories, Dreams and Reflections
by Marianne Faithfull
The words from this 1960's rock icon's mouth burn deep when retelling her story about being a young, beautiful starlet with a drug abuse problem. Marianne Faitfull 's rocky and revealing story takes you through her love affair with drugs, stardom and Mick Jagger, and beyond what happens when all of it fades.

3. I'm With the Band: Confessions of a Groupie
by Pamela DeBarres
Whether you consider yourself a groupie or a fan, this journey of a girl becoming a woman under the seductive eyes of rock legends hits home with anyone who's loved a band more than just being a fan. Pamela DeBarres, may have not been on the ticket but she was on the bus (doing all sorts of things when wouldn't tell your mother about) living the 60's in full swing. Her eye-opening story of drug abuse, love and celebrity by associate dates back to an era that has, sadly, long passed.

4. Miss O'Dell: Hard Days and Long Nights with The Beatles, The Stones, Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton
by Chris O'Dell
From the woman who saw and lived the life of rock history dreams, Chris O'Dell lets us live vicariously through her recording sessions with The Beatles, her run ins with the Rolling Stones and glimpses inside the inner circles from which only myths
spun from, til now.

5. Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton,
and Me
by Pattie Boyd
Former model and photographer Pattie Boyd spills all the details of her marriages to the Eric Clapton and (my favorite Beatle) George Harrison, in this memoir
of model turned muse.

Kate Middleton's Not-So-Royal Wedding

Kate Middleton dresses to impress (the commoners)
in an adorable trench and heels.
While the collective fashion world holds its breath in excitement for Kate Middleton and Prince Williams wedding of the decade, I've decided to put together some fun looks for Kate's imaginary not-so-royal-wedding, because if she wasn't marrying a prince, she would be marrying a regular guy...with a regular size wallet.

-Like many of us girls who love vintage and couture wedding dresses, Anthropologie's line of BHLDN wedding dresses would fit Kate's more fashion forward side. The sweet little frills create a delicate and romantic take on Kate's more girly looks.

-I don't know who Oleg Cassini is, but I like this dress and I think it works well for Kate's more basic style. It has a perfect little cluster of bling at the waist that both gives her a great silhouette, but also brings a little life to the dress, without taking it over. Kate's a pretty enough girl that she doesn't need too much going on.

-While Vera Wang probably can't be noted as cheap, her usual pricey non-custom designs still dress brides to impress. This sophisticated cream number would be perfect for Kate's tall stature. It would also work well  if she wanted to make a statement but didn't want to go crazy with it. Even if it felt too basic, she could still work in an exciting head piece to add an extra spark to an already wedding aisle ready dress.

Fight For Your Right... to Act Like You're From Brooklyn

I know I haven't been around in a while and I apologize for that, but I'm back now and I got something hilarious for you too see. From the band that wrote the soundtrack to my imaginary life of high speed chases and 24 hour house parties, The Beastie Boys have released a trailer to their upcoming 30-minute video “Fight for Your Right—Revisited”. The video is jam packed with some of my favorite funny guys, from Jack Black to Seth Rogen. You won't be able to listen to "Ch-Check It Out" again without seeing Will Farrell breakdancing like the weirdo he is, ever again. Enjoy!
